The funeral arrangements for Downey Police Officer Ricardo “Ricky” Galvez.

The Rosary and Viewing for Officer Galvez will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM at Downey Civic Theatre in the city of Downey. Doors will open at 5:00 PM.

The funeral for Officer Galvez will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in the city of Los Angeles on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Immediately following the funeral, there will be a graveside service with full police honors at Rose Hills Memorial Park in the city of Whittier.

Welcome to the Downey Police Department; I am extremely proud to serve as Downey's 10th Police Chief. It is an honor to lead such a professional and dedicated team of men and women who are committed to the safety and welfare of our fine City.

We are committed to the philosophy of quality, professional policing, and outstanding customer service. Having your trust and confidence is paramount. We recognize the unique responsibility of policing and know that our effectiveness is enhanced through close community relationships. The members of your Police Department are chosen for this profession based on their strong ethics and a demonstrated desire to make a positive difference. We share a vested interest in our community and I urge you to do your part to keep our community safe. The Police Department cannot do it alone, but together we can accomplish great things.
